Studio HaveSomeHaveOne is delighted to present “Bungalow, A Brief Story”, Frederick M Wong’s debut solo exhibition with seven photographic works. Within the shadowy confines of a nocturnal club, where seekers of alternate experiences and consciousness congregate, the ambiance is defined by pulsating, colored lighting. Through extended camera exposures, ranging from 10 to 15 minutes, existing light and color imprint themselves onto the negative film, resulting in ambiguous images that transcend sharpness to capture the essence of the environment. Rather than striving for clarity, these playful photographs evoke the ephemeral ambiance where these gatherings unfold, painting a vivid tapestry of sensory exploration. The final images juxtapose heightened and subdued sensibilities, inviting viewers into a nuanced realm of visual intrigue.

Frederick M Wong is a self-taught photographer whose lens reveals the quiet beauty embedded in everyday life. His visual language is shaped by philosophical inquiries into time, impermanence, and the unpredictable rhythms of chance. Wong’s work invites viewers to explore the subtle interplay between entropy and environment - encouraging reflection on how these invisible forces sculpt our lived experiences. With a keen sensitivity to texture, decay, and spatial nuance, Wong’s photographs transform familiar details into contemplative meditations. Through a thoughtful balance of randomness and intentionality, he constructs visual narratives that provoke curiosity and awaken new ways of seeing. Wong’s practice is a testament to the profound potential of noticing, reminding us that meaning often emerges from what we overlook.
